This venue is amazing! We had our wedding here in October and it couldn't have been more perfect. Jeannie and Jim were delightful and flexible hosts. If you book, I recommend utilizing Kara, their onsite coordinator. Together, Jeannie and Kara made the whole day stress free and were on top of everything. Seriously, I can't imagine a better wedding experience!

......." INSPIRED DOESN'T EVEN BEGIN TO DESCRIBE HOW I FELT WHEN I WAS WITH THEM ON THIS DAY. EVERYTHING ABOUT IT, EVERYTHING ABOUT THEM WAS PERFECT. THEIR VENUE, THE LALUMONDIERE RIVER MILL AND GARDENS IS UNLIKE ANYTHING ELSE I'VE EVER SEEN... ESPECIALLY IN THE MIDWEST. WHAT A PEACEFUL, STUNNINGLY BEAUTIFUL, SPECIAL PLACE TO BECOME HUSBAND AND WIFE."

This venue is AMAZING. Our guests were blown away by how gorgeous this place is. Getting married by the river and then dancing the night away under the twinkle lights was simply magical. We used their day of coordinator Kara and didn't have to worry about a THING. I simply sent her a timeline and she made sure EVERY single detail fell into place and got done. Our wedding was every single thing I wanted and dreamed of - I couldn't have picked a better venue.

Jim & Jeannie were AWESOME!  The guests all said that the venue was so relaxing and that the site is just gorgeous. They work wonderfully with coordinating with the vendors too. They are very organized and it amazes me that they also live on site and allow people in their home. The entire event went smoothly. I can't say enough about the hospitality of the owners and feel that we have made new friends! Gretchen

We had an incredible experience planning our wedding with Jeannie and Jim. They are so loving and made us even more excited for our wedding. The venue is spectacular and had our guests completely in awe. It feels both homey and surreal. They went the extra mile to make sure the day went off without a hitch......

If you want a beautiful outdoor wedding, this is your place! Jeannie and Jim have done amazing things with this historic mill on the Big River-- they have restored and added to the mill house using reclaimed materials from demolished buildings in the St. Louis area, and landscaped the grounds with attention to detail and care for the natural features of the area. It is not a perfectly pruned, geometrically precise rose garden-- instead the plants are lush, allowed just a touch of wildness that makes the place magical. Both Jeannie and Jim, as well as our wedding day-of coordinator, Kara were wonderful to work with.....Jeannie, Jim, and Kara were all very excited to host a wedding that was a bit out of the ordinary, and all were immensely helpful in getting everything set up and ready to go on the day of. The fact that they were flexible and also excited to host a wedding that did not fit the usual mold was absolutely invaluable and meant the world to my now-husband and I. Many places that we inquired with were quite set in their traditionalist ways-- not so at the Lalumondiere. If traditional is your bag, you can certainly go that route as well of course. But for those who may be looking for a place and people who are both willing and excited to host something a little (or a lot) offbeat, look no further than the Lalumondiere.

I was the bride...EVERYONE of our guests commented how beautiful and wonderful the venue was. Some said it was like a fairy tale. Others commented on how peaceful it was. For us, it was the perfect backdrop for our wedding. We held our ceremony/reception so that our guests could enjoy the beauty of the venue in the day and then experience the ambience of it in all the twinkle lights and lights on the Big River that flows along side the venue. Far exceeded our expectations for an amazing evening and memory...not to mention some awesome pictures.

The most magical venue you could choose!

You will simply not find a better venue than Jeannie and Jim's for your wedding. If your style is romantic, this is it. If your style is woodsy, this is it. If your style is backyard fairy garden, this is it. The Lalumondiere hits every single box on a "I want a beautiful, unique wedding" checklist. We have heard from several of our guests "it was the most beautiful wedding we've ever been to; how did you find that place?!" and the best part is we KNEW from the moment we picked it that would be the case because we felt it, too. Jeannie and Jim are amazing to work with from the very first meeting all the way to the morning after. If you choose the Lalumondiere (and why wouldn't you?), do yourself a favor and also hire Kara, their on-site coordinator. She will help you achieve every dream you never knew you had about the look and feel of your big day. Note that you will have to rent all of your tables, chairs, and linens separately as Jeannie and Jim do not provide them BUT they help with so much of that process to make it go smooth. It was my biggest concern and I feel silly for it now because aside from breaking down the chairs and tables at the end of the night (which guests ALWAYS help with, not to mention your bridal party) they take care of absolutely everything. Don't pass this place up!

We had our wedding at Lalumondiere in October and we could not have been more pleased with how it turned out. Their grounds provided the perfect backdrop for a romantic setting, as well as spectacular wedding photos. Jeannie and Jim could not have been more helpful in all phases of planning our wedding. They providing us with potential caterers, photographers and rental companies, not to mention that they are both warm and welcoming people. As soon as you walk into their backyard they make you feel at home. They were truly a pleasure to work with and we could not have imagined a better venue to provide the rustic wedding we were looking for. Just one visit and you will be hooked.

We couldn't have asked for a more picturesque or memorable place. All of our guests loved it and were surprised at how lovely it was. Jim and Jeannie were so laid back and fun. They allowed us to do many things that would not have been possible at a more traditional venue. And when it came time to do decorating, not much was needed. Jeannie also added her own unexpected extras to the effort to really finish the look. Jeannie was also very helpful when answering all my millions of questions. She responds quickly to emails, which was helpful for my busy schedule. The Lalumondiere was the 1st place that we checked out when we started looking for a spot and despite the fact that we looked at many other places afterward, and met some other really cool people, this place won out over them all. I am very glad that we chose them. If I could get married again, I would come back.

I am not sure where to begin....Bruce and I wanted something different for our wedding. I came across Lalumondiere by chance on the internet. I decided to go check it out. From the moment I walked in I felt like I was in another country and someplace truly magical. Jeannie and Jim were amazing too. Our wedding was the perfect day. People are still talking about it. We were able to put together a day that celebrated all the beautiful people in our lives at one of the most special places I have ever been. My only wish is we could go back again and again:)

About Us

Jim & Jeannie Lalumondiere

Byrnesville, Missouri, United States

Jim and I began our dream of a lifetime some 46 years ago when we purchased the old Byrnesville Mill near House Springs. It was our desire to save the building; create home; raise our four children; and enjoy retirement here along the lazy Big River that flows beneath our house. This magnificent building was saved, the children raised in their life long home and now we enjoy the fruits of our labor as we sit and watch the lazy river flow past. It is our great pleasure to share the beauty of our surroundings with others.

About The Lalumondiere

Along the Big River in Jefferson County, not far from St. Louis, sits a secret delight.  Traveling across the bridge, in the town of Byrnesville, your eye is drawn upriver to a scenic dam & waterfall where you catch a glimpse of flowers hanging from a 3 story structure presiding over the rivers' edge.  You have discovered the historic Byrnesville Mill.

As you wend you way through the open breezeway you feel your senses awaken to the sound of rolling and tumbling water, a perfect backdrop to the sight of multi-level patios, fish ponds, and flower gardens.

Described as intimate, nostalgic, unpretentious, and with eclectic charm, the mill home itself - as well as it's transformation to a one-of-a-kind venue for events & weddings - are some of Jim and Jeannie Lalumondiere's proudest achievements, and reasonably so.

Qualities of love and ingenuity, the belief in preservation and an abiding respect for nature have transformed the Byrnesville Mill into what is today knows as.....The Lalumondiere.

History

Once a grist mill owned by Patrick Byrne, the Byrnesville mill was the center of commerce for the young town of Byrnesville, Mo. from the mid 1800's and into the 20th century.  The town was also home to a grocer, dance hall, blacksmith, post office and several taverns, but it was the mill that put it on the map and drew farmers and families together.

In 1974 the Lalumondiere's rescued the mill from decades of neglect.  After securing the foundation, they blended their time raising children with the ongoing creation of their beautiful mill home and gardens.

As the years have progressed, their desire to share their special spot with others has brought about the creation of The Lalumondiere Mill & Rivergardens, an outdoor venue and B&B Homestay site now offered to the public.

It is an opportunity for others to create memories of their own - of weddings and laughter, music and dancing, quiet retreats, family reunions, or corporate meetings away from the boardroom.  This wonderful landscape of opportunity can be shaped to fit your own special needs or desires.
