New Year Reflections...

Some times in our lives there are years we cannot wait to end due to struggle, illness, conflict or whatever.  They are the years we want to forget, sweep under the rug, or kick to the side of the road.  It would be easy to take the first of any new year to forget the year ending.

In 2011, on December 31st, Jim and I took the time to look back over the year and all the happy faces, the dancing and laughing of families and friends that graced our home with their joy.  The new people we have met and their kindness' as well.  To each of you we say thank you.  We cherish the karma you have all left behind, from the bride and groom, to all of the remarkable vendors we've had the pleasure to work with.

It is truly from our hearts that we share our little spot of this world.

Our New Year began with the publication of an article in St. Louis Homes and Lifestyles magazine that gave us even more joy and a perfect ending to 2011.  Thanks as well to Judy Uelk, editor-in-chief, and all the staff for seeking us out once again, and honoring our years of effort.

And on we go.................

In honor of our American Heros

It was our distinct pleasure to provide our home and setting to Kaela & Mike earlier this summer for a very personal photo shoot.  We are grateful for the chance to see this young couple enjoy their last few days together before Mike was to deploy for Iraq.  Thanks for leaving us such lovely memories as you created yours.  As a post script, we hear that Mike has returned home safely.  Thanks for your service!

Season Opening...

Our 2011 season opened on April 30th, with the marriage of Kristine and Todd Robinson.  If you remember, spring here in the mid west was a very wet one.  That Saturday offered hints of rain all day.

Mother Nature co-operated and nary a drop fell as these two celebrated with family and friends.

Kristine said it best......."even though it rained and rained and rained in the month of April, we finally took a go-with-the-flow approach.  Just like you mentioned the week of the wedding, you never know what's going to happen with the weather even when it comes down to the wire.  We finally said if we don't just go with the flow, we'll drive ourselves crazy worrying about it.  And lo and behold, it was a cloudy day, but no rain and it all worked out!"

Tiffany & Aaron

We celebrated the marriage of Tiffany and Aaron here at The Lalumondiere on June 11th of this year.  The weather was perfect, the food wonderful and this couple glowed with happiness.

The riverside pavilion, overlooking the  waterfall, was the location for their exchanging of vows surrounded by friends and family.

Tiffany's favorite color is orange, and Aaron's is blue. The combination provided a colorful backdrop to the celebration and was carried throughout from flowers, to cake, to lanterns as well as.............

Memorial Day Memories

Memorial weekend of 2011 was certainly memorable for Carrie & Jay, as well as for us.  The exuberance and joy brought to The Lalumondiere by these two, as well as their guests, left good karma behind for posterity.

Carrie's perpetual smile and laughter, along with Jay's beaming eyes, infused the day with happiness.

Carrie & Jay chose the back patio gardens for their ceremony.

Jay's three lovely daughters were a special part of the day.

Check out more of Carrie and Jays photos on our Past Brides and Grooms page.

Stephanie and Brandon approach the river side pavilion to exchange their vows before family and friends.

Judge Bob Wilkins administered those vows just after suggesting that Stephanie take a deep breath.  And that she did.........

Much thought and detail was put into every aspect of this wedding.  Food was presented from three separate stations around the patios allowing guests to nosh at their leisure.  The staff of Peggs Restaurant on the Boulevard prepared and served much of the repast along with the Saleem's Restaurant who provided the Middle Eastern offering.

We are often questioned about what to do if it rained on your outdoor wedding day.  In the case of Emily and Christian, the answer is.......be an easy going couple willing to 'go with the flow', have an inventive and capable wedding coordinator like Trudy Nicholson and a caterer such as Candicci's who can move their operation from point A to point B without a problem.  Add the talent of Jerry Grimm and his wife of Jerry Grimm Photography to the mix for added measure.  They managed to catch all the bright spots of the day through the lens of their cameras!  Great job one and all!

After a rain delay during which guests were treated to passed hors d'oeurve's under pop up canopies, thoughtfully supplied by Trudy, the ceremony proceeded during a break in the weather.  The rain stopped in time for the DJ to amp up the music and guests danced the rest of the night away with the truly joyful couple.  Perfect ending.  What a pleasure to work with you all, guests included!

Emily and her mother, provided their own rainbow from wedding invitations, hand created by them, to the flowers to the brides maids dress colors.

Rain gear ruled the day with guests that came prepared.  The space heaters provided by The Lalumondiere became sought after spaces to gather.  But everyone was smiling!
